Weaving a wee basket at RagTag'nTextile in Balmacara

We had a great afternoon weaving that little basket practising basket making skills and using the corndolly technique. Some even had time to make a star, a God's eye and an extra base as well! Workshop Willow Weaving Gairloch Heritage Museum

On Friday 13th of May local school children and visitors enjoyed demonstrations of traditional crafts in Gairloch Heritage Museum, like spinning and repairing fish nets. These photos are made during butter making and a hands-on experience weaving a fish with willow. Traditional creels and contempary baskets were at display. Dornie Craft Fair and Willow workshop. June

A few photos to show the first Dornie Craft Fair was a great succes! The hall was full of stalls with high quality local produce, from jewellery to pottery, from handbags to jam, from cards to framed pictures and much more. Some people joined the willow weaving workshop making a butterfly. The wool spinning demonstration was interesting! Next Fair will be on Friday July 9th in Dornie Hall, next to Dornie Bridge and opposite Eilean Donan Castle.

A group of people organised a basket making workshop in Dornie Hall. A great day! Everybody went home - through thick snow - with a lovely basket made with green willow called 'Dark Dick'. Thanks to Lindsay who also made photos.
