Right side of trunk.
A lot of detail!
This compartment conceals in the top of the trunk. There was no lid for this compartment. I had to create a lid that would curve to the box. The over-all art work inside was coordinate to the outside. The two curved compartments have ornaments. On one of the ornaments you can see I have the words "It's all Fu Fu" That is my company name for what ever I design. It's going to end up "Fu Fu" Girly.
On the front of the compartment I needed latches to hold the ornaments in place. That was a challenge. Any metal latches would not work because on the curve on the lid. I do sew and so I attached these frog closures. They are made for jackets and coats a decorative embellishment. Thru out the trunk I added some inspirational sayings.
This is the compartment that conceals in the trunk lid. Measurements: 7" deep and 12" in length and 14" wide. I needed to design a sectional storage for each ornament. Plus keeping in mind that all ornaments are different shapes. I used the new hard foam boards for project displaying. They are sturdy and water-resistant and will not tear easy. I bought some very strong Christmas paper that does not tear easy. I custom design to fit inside box to hold up for my sections. Then I made some section pieces flexible to secure and shape of unusual ornament. I used shredded designer packing stuff to give more secure stability to each ornament. Continuing
Continue from previous picture. The compartment is deep to hold more light weight ornaments, as you can see in the picture. I made individual top covers to add light weight ornaments in the sections.
This is the compartment that conceals inside the lid trunk. Completely filled with ornaments. Show display items only. One layer of ornaments. The lid is attached with metal hinges and screws on the outside. Needing support to hold lid, I used Pink pearl ribbon on both sides. The inside of lid I used the crush velvet material for more protection. Plus multi use with the inside lid you can pin your bows on it or use the area for messages, tags, cards. Get creative. There's a place for everything...
Good picture of compartment with your dividers. All compartments have been bleached, stripped, primed, caulked, base painted, faux wash effect, (3) coats of sealer applied for protection. Inside and out. Old trunks have a smell because their old. This trunk does not. It smells like Christmas!!
These are your dividers that will come with your trunk. I will also add the Christmas paper I used for you to make more if needed.
Good picture.
This is the Built in Ipod speakers. I don't know if this compartment had a cover. I made this lid. The inspirational sayings are added rub on.
Just plug in your own Ipod and listen to your music. The volume can be controlled by your Ipod. I do not know the wattage on the speakers, but it is Loud.
This picture gives you a look inside the compartment. The Ipod and the Bible is just for display only.
This compartment had no lid. Custom made lid with metal hinges and screws. Added inspirational sayings. Plus added frog closures to keep lid closed.
Here are both compartments opened and filled with bows. The bows surprisingly will come with the trunk. along with the Christmas paper I covered the dividers.
This is a new creation of mine. Well, I will say the shape. It is a ornament shape message board to hold tags, little shopping notes, messages of love... The message board is attached. Made of velvet and batting inside. The push pins I created with some left over jewelry. All comes with the trunk. An inspirational saying above.
This is the bottom of the compartment that fits in the top of the dome lid. I made a leather pocket sewn together then attached to the bottom of the compartment. Plus out lined in some detailed peal lace. A place for your keepsake cards.
Good side profile.
This is close-up of a latch I created to hold the compartment in the socket of the lid.
This is close-up of a latch I created to hold the compartment in the socket of the lid. there are two latches.
This was another Flawless Idea. Who ever buys the trunk. You can record the date you purchased or give it to someone.
Showing the location of the written record area.
I just thought this was flawless to paint in this section. When you open the trunk.. Here comes Christmas!
This is a view of the back.
This is a view of the front. The year can be changed to 2009, With the original date of completion is marked on the trunk.
The latch was missing the front part. Which I could have ordered another latch. As I am a artist, I wanted something different. It was a challenge to construct a design that would complement the allover style.
As you can see above this latch, I installed silver handles. The top of the trunk is heavy without anything stored in the compartments. There was no other way to open the lid or close the lid without pushing on the corners. Impossible to control that lid coming down to close. Good way to get your fingers chopped.
Left side view. You can see in the top right of the picture my signature and date. This is the only place I signed the trunk. The handles are made of a belt. I went shopping keeping in mind I need pink handles. When I saw this belt spare no expense, perfect in everyway. The color is perfect silver and pink.
I will say it over and over. This trunk was a Challenge! Six months to complete! I saw a pattern in the makeup of this trunk. The metal sides that wrap around needed a repeat pattern all it's own. But, the challenge was having the pattern stand alone with it's own beauty and complement the rest of the design. Every part of this trunk needed it's own design.
The top of the trunk was a stuck point for a time.... I wanted grand and whimsical so the Christmas trees were the answer! Perfect in everyway!!
This compartment conceals in the top of the trunk. There was no lid for this compartment. I had to create a lid that would curve to the box. I bought canvas boards to make the lids. I peeled back the canvas material on two sides measured , then trimmed the board and sealed back the canvas material. To get it to curve without a bent. I steamed the shape. Once I had the shape I tack it to the box. Then for about a month I would put hot steam rags on top. This compartment did not have anyway to be attached to the trunk. It may have when created but. I don't know any knowledge of that. I wanted the compartment to be functional in every way plus display beauty. The ribbon is a cloth type and is attached to the trunk with a nail and hidden by a decor piece. The ribbons is tied in a bow underneath to support the box for show.
The complete look!
Overall complate look!
All the hinges are metal with screws.
Same on this compartment. There was no lid for this compartment. I had to create a lid that would curve to the box. I bought canvas boards to make the lids. I peeled back the canvas material on two sides measured , then trimmed the board and sealed back the canvas material. To get it to curve without a bent. I steamed the shape. You are looking at the second layer.
Before closing the lid add extra shredded stuffing for protection.
The same on this design on this compartment. The compartment is deep to hold more light weight ornaments, as you can see in the picture. Made a second layer out of the hard foam board and covered it with crushed velvet. Giving you more storage. Make sure your heavy ornaments go on the bottom. The ornaments are display only to show the setup on storing your own.
Continue from previous picture. The same on this design on this compartment. This is what will be included in the compartment.
This is the bottom of the trunk. I added a new bottom floor on top of the old one. The floor was thin and weak ,plus I added slat boards underneath to install the bearing wheels. It has been stripped , bleached, Caulked, primed, (3) coats of base paint, Faux cloud effect, Snow flakes and dots with (3) coats of sealer to protect finish, makes up the inside design.
This trunk can hold a lot! measurements: 18" wide and 30" length and 15" deep to work with. The 15" measures from the bottom of the trunk to the tray rails. The items you see are a display of how much can store in the bottom of trunk. Put all your heavy items in bottom first. I made a second floor to add light weight items. Made of hard foam board covered with crushed velvet fabric.
Here you can see the second layer going in.
The second layer is in. The trunk came with the side rails. They are on the left and right sides. This hold the tray in place along with the small hinges you see only one in this picture.
I am placing the tray in the trunk. Showing this picture demonstrates the use of the ribbon handles. There was no knowledge of any way to pull this tray up and out of the trunk. The handles are made with very strong wire inside ribbon and attached very securely to the bottom.
Another picture to demonstrate the handles.
Every little detail counts! This compartment is on the tray. Ideal for garland, beads anything long.
This is a good view of the all the compartments. Built-in Ipod speaker system top right.
The tray with the lids opened. I used my Ornaments to demonstrate the ues of the compartments.
This is a professional Picture taken.
