Waiting in line to register for WorldMUN, we encounter several ladies dressed in "traditional Dutch clothing."
Amrita (and half of me) riding on a bus to Monday night's social event, Global Village.
But for dinner, Sameer, Amrita, and I had done the American tourist thing and gotten food at KFC. (The other three ate Chinese, so I'm not sure that they weren't being tourists, too.)
Australia's booth at Global Village Look at all the little koalas!
Morocco's booth at Global Village
The Venezuela booth...I love their hand-made sign!!
So much so that I took multiple pictures of it.
Look, it's the Vietnamese Booth!
The traditional clothes are so cool! It made me think of Stormie!
It's the Australian booth + Amrita.
It's an inflatable kangaroo. I don't think I need to say anything else about it.
Colombia!
Indonesia
Greece
Indonesia (again)
Bangladesh
Sweden...You gotta love the fact that they brought viking hats.
Venezuela
I really wanted to make sure I got a good picture of the sign. I think I'll blame my high school American Foreign Policy teacher for that urge.
Lebanon
If only MIT had shirts that were as cool at the ones the MUN team from Zurich had!
And after a few hours, the alcohol's effects began to show.
Global Village was so tightly packed this year. You would actually want to go from one side of the floor to the other and you wouldn't even have to move your legs, the crowd just kind of pushed you along. Granted, you had no control over where you were moving, but you didn't have to expend any energy getting there either.
Amrita, Radhika, and Aditi
Amrita, wearing the flowers the Colombian booth gave out on our way back from Global Village.
The Hague
Amrita and I went exploring the Hague one of the days we had the afternoon free. We just hopped on the tram (or pram...depending on how much sleep you've gotten recently) and stepped off at a random stop. It was a blast!
If it wee up to me, I would definitely put a tower on my house!
The square we hopped out at.
We decided the statue looked like it was flashing the right hand rule. Yes, yes, I know. I'm a nerd. But I'm okay with that.
Amrita and I stopped at this little restaurant as we rambled around the Hague. I orders a club sandwich, and it was HUGE!
The Tomato Soup was SOOO good!
And it came in the neatest looking bowl. (I actually had the same soup in the same bowl at a different restaurant in another part of the Hague later that night. Weird, huh?)
The outside of the restaurant..Jiliana's
Amrita and a random street in the Hague
So as Amrita and I were wandering through the streets, chatting as we went, we passed a buliding that didn't look like a church or anything of the type, but the inscriptions above the door were written in French and were quotes from Jesus. This one reads "I am the way, the truth, and the life."
Come to me you who are tired and I will give you rest.
I am the light of the world.
This is the North Palace, also known as the working palace. It's where all the queen's administrative staff work.
The plaque on the wall of the palace You can actually see the reflection of the trees and the sky on the plaque.
Lovely random spot, isn't it?
Taken of one of the many shops I passed. I know, I already said I was a nerd.
There's something inherently funny about a smart car (yellow) parked next to an extended cab 4 x 4 truck. This is actually one of the only trucks I saw the entire time I was in the Hague. Smart cars on the other hand passed by me, just about every time I walked outside for more than 10 minutes.

A tram!
Waiting in line at the Paard van Troje (or the Trojan Horse for all English speakers). Rock Your WorldMUN, the official club night social event was held here.
They actually has a live band in one of the two dance rooms before they broke out the DJs.
Preparing for Cabaret Night...Special shout out to Steph Couch for the dress!
The venue for Cabaret Night was wicked sweet. Just look the 2400+ delegates that attended the conference.
Radhika and Aditi, sitting on the stairs because they ran out of chairs Eventually some people next to them got up to go perform, so we all got to sit in good seats.
The MC!!

Something about a place being named "BadHotel" doesn't really make me want to stay there. (as seen out the window of the bus home from the social events)

Me
Amrita, trying to decide where we'll head next...Too bad the maps only include Canal Names. Apparently street names aren't really to cool thing to put in print.
And that little building, the white one in the very middle of the picture, is the smallest house in the Netherlands.
It's just a door and a big window. It is not part of the normal size white building to its right.
Amrita, sporting an orange WorldMUN bag on the streets of Amsterdam
Aditi at the National Monument...No, I have no idea what the carvings on it are supposed to represent.
Radhika, Amrita, Chris, and Aditi strike an Asian tourist pose in Amsterdam's central square.

Chris, Sameer, and Amrita at the delegation dinner
Radhik, me, Aditi, Chris, Sameer, and Amrita...It's the whole MIT delegation, together. How often did that happen? :-)
Another group photo, courtesy of one of the waiters
Radhika's usually not this threatening, really. Okay, so maybe sometimes...
Aditi, on the other hand, is really admiring her knife. You never know what she's thinking. Really, they were both just jealous of Rand's MITMUNC staff picture.
Look how much happier Amrita is now that her shrimp aren't staring at her.
