Belfast - a glimpse

I went on a mini-break with my friend Danielle on Saturday Dec 6 (really early) and we packed in Christmas Markets, self-guided pub tours, Belfast Castle, Titanic Dock and a tourist bus through the conflict areas to see the murals. It was very interesting and educationally humbling.

Best of Prague

On Nov 14-16 the 4 of us hit the gothic city of Prague. It was soooo beautiful, and such colourful buildings. Great jazz music was all over the city too.

Best of Geneva

On November 7-9 we went on another mini-break in Europe - to Geneva Switzerland. The views were absolutely amazing with all of the fall colours, and it felt like a true european city with its architecture and even a castle (now one of my faves!)

Ireland - The Emerald Isle

Went with Sam, Becky to the Emerald Isle - where Guinness is a meal and drunk people are a plenty. The coastal drive was 'fast' and amazing views. We have to go back to Galway someday!

Catalan Sun

We stayed in a great sunny beach area called Sitges just 45 minutes outside of Barcelona by train. This gave us the chance to combine a beach break with city visits to Barcelona. Fabulous!

Our Scotland Roadtrip

We had a wonderful trip around most of Scotland from July 27 - August 2. This ended with a family weekend in Dunfermline where we hit Edinburgh for the world renowned Fringe Festival and Military Tattoo. The Tattoo was brilliant!

Parents Visit to London

On the first weekend with the parents we went on separate excursions - Syd and my Dad walked down the memory lane of War at both the Imperial War museum and the HMS Belfast, while mom and I shopped and had high tea at Fortnum and Masons. The next night we went out for authentic Indian on Brick Lane and then the night after we did a Jack the Ripper London Walk in WhiteChapel (east London).

We had our first camping experience in the UK over the first weekend of May. We weren't allowed campfires and didn't have a picnic table, so had to make due with creative picnics and disposable barbecues!

Porto Portugal - April 2008

We went to Porto Portugal in the wettest weekend in April. It was a great chance to see neat churches, catacombs, port wine caves, and sample tasty sushi. The weather cleared up for Syd's attendance at the Microsoft conference, so that's fabulous for him!

My cousin stayed with us for 4 days and we made sure to show him a good time by taking him out on the town, a trip to stonehenge and salisbury as well as a long walk around London on the most beautiful weekend we had in months!

Thames River Cruise

On the day after Brighton we took a river cruise down the Thames so that we could see the vast city of London from the river. We took it to Greenwich Park and now understand why Greenwich is so loved.
