Rally for Palestine

More than 380 people were indiscriminately killed by cowardly air strikes and artillery fire unleashed by Israel on the Palestinian people in Gaza. Many of the victims are children, women and elderly. The targets have included hospitals, mosques, the Islamic university and other social institutions of the Palestinian people. People in Toronto responds to the international condemnation of this act by the state of Israel to the Palestinian people. (Thanks to Al Calara and Jonathan Canchela for the photos)

Juana celebrated her victory with her husband, friends and the community. We also took the opportunity to launch the "Juana Tejada Law" campaign. Its the campaign to remove the second medical requirement that caregivers have to take before they can be a permanent resident.

Mabuhay Festival

Migrante-Ontario member organizations, Filipino Migrant Workers Movement (FMWM), Philippine Advocacy Through Arts and Culture (PATAC), AWARE and Migrante Ontario Youth participated and performed at the Mabuhay Festival. It is the largest summer festival organized in Toronto where Filipinos gather annually. It is organized by the Philippine Independence Day Council. Bayan Canada in Toronto was also present.
