Paid a visit to Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud, Bali. First thing we came upon was some young monkeys having some fun in a little pond.
he was already wet from the pond, but he poured the cup of water all over himself anyway.
monkey dunk!
li'l guy wants in on the action.
getting his feet wet...
the monkeys, of course, steal everything. this one got his hands on someone's bottle of water.
and then...oops.
family portrait (with nitpicking...a typical trait of families of all kinds, no?)
this one was a bit more successful.
madonna and child (with mustache)
this one was banging quite a bit. making some music, i guess.
it's a hard monkey life.
took this little guy several tries to finally grab his own tail.
yes, they monkey pick nits (or whatever it is they are picking) everywhere. (sorry. just doing my job to document all...)
I can hear this coming out of a police car megaphone: 'Drop all of your food and walk away slowly.'
She didn't really listen, but she wanted to feed the monkey a banana. The monkey here are so damn sick of and/or full of bananas that they often take them and play with them a bit and then leave them.
another nitpicking sequence (nothing gross on this one, i promise, just some nice faces on the part of the picked one. also a fun video at the end!).
you have to eat what you pick, of course.
looks very relaxing, no?
may as well all get in on the act....
portrait of monkey temple with monkey
inside monkey temple (well, inside the complex. the main temple is, as you can see, closed.)
(closed due to reparations)
this one was licking the underwall for some reason.
monkey temple requires not only actual monkeys, of course, but monkey statues.
you had to wear a sarong to get into the temple...
a few minutes later rob got a bit too close... (he took this photos, obviously. while holding my camera to photograph me with the monkeys.)
me keeping a safe distance for my own 'me with monkeys' photo...little did i know what would happen later...
not sure if this palm leaf is really edible or he's just tearing it up.
the thinker
white eyelids...wow!
tiny monkey baby
more monkey statues on the outside of the temple
...not to mention other weird stuff!
weird *and* disturbing...
strike a pose...
another wall licker...maybe it's the moss they like?
very attractive.
and then things started to get funny...
first they were just pulling and biting on my skirt. then they decided to go under...
yum yum!
get outta here, this is *my* skirt!
gotta love that direct look up at the camera. (these are from my point of view, obviously)
'hey...look what i found.'
'cool!'
and then all the way under. he climbed up my leg a big but mostly it was the skirt and the hiding under it they were interested in. kind of like when we used to build forts, i guess...
the babies really have old men faces, don't they?
and...monkey pattern baldness?
