the first place i stayed in in cherating had kittens...
...with shoes!
and more shoes!
saw this bus parked outside the fanciest hotel in town (aside from club med, that is), which also happens to be the place where the u.s. navy men and women stayed during the 'joint excercise' they were doing (a construction project) in cherating. cuti-cuti bus company. nice.
there was a band of monkeys atop some dumpsters who apparently found something good, as they went craaaazy, and a bunch of other monkeys came running. they brought their treasure into the bushes a few feet away.
there's an old man who runs a small cafe on the beachfront who makes these grasshoppers out of palm leaves. he told us it took 8 minutes to make one, but he did this one in less than 5. unfortunately i waited too long to take the photo and the leaf started drying out. originally it was deep green and soft. (and the antennae were straight.)
the underside. such intricate work!
my friend vigh, who came up from kuala lumpur for a few days to help allieve my boredom in cherating.
bella, the adorable and much-beloved by everyone in town daugther of the owners of payung cafe, where i spent many, many hours during my week in cherating (free wifi...).
