one of the things i forgot before going back to vietnam is that mia means sugarcane in vietnamese. so sugarcane juice--which is sold on the street pretty much everywhere--is nouc mia (literally sugarcane water). this cart even has it's very own 'mia' pictured on it.
then i found this extra fancy sugarcane juice bar. so of course i had to go in and order a nuoc mia shake. i got strawberry. but really, strawberry doesn't need any more sugar, so of course it was way too sweet. i told them my name was mia, though. they only seemed to think i was a little nutty (as opposed to extremely).
all kinds of mia available here!
how's this for ironic? don'tcha think?
bear! the adorable puppy of my friends jake and mai.
bear has a special way of eating an apple. she eats the inside first and the skin last.
when you pay extra for the 'limousine bus' you get special perks such as a bottle of water and this. what a win-ner! i'm not sure where the 'ice' part comes in, but i do know that in fancy places here instead of giving you a hot towel to wipe your hands with when you arrive they give you a cold one. which, i guess, in light of the weather here, is more appropriate.
