my friend steve and i hiked up to a place called sunset rock at kep. the hike was a bit challenging in that the trail was hard to find...
but the view of the sky there was more than worth it.

only problem was, it was dark shortly thereafter and we hadn't thought to bring our flashlights...
steve had one on his phone but that didn't last very long since his battery was almost dead.
so getting back was quite an adventure, especially since at some point steve thought we might in fact have been walking on the loop trail that goes around the national forest, which takes about two hours. lucky for us the path we chose did indeed lead back to the main road, eventually. first we saw a house with lights, then we saw actual streetlights. and we knew everything would be ok. the beer and dinner we managed to get later (we still had to walk all the way back to the part of town where our guest house and the restaurants were) tasted really, really good.

the next night we hiked only across the road and down the street to an area called the 'crab market' to see the sunset. and to eat, of course.
we watched all this from our table at the restaurant overlooking the water...awaiting our fresh crab and squid dinner. yum!

john taylor graced the wall of our room at vanna's guest house in kep.
and brooke shields was next door. i was dying to find out who was in all the other rooms but i didn't approach any of the other guests like i'd hoped i might get up the gumption to do.

this was the print on the mattress in my room...
took a short walk on the island the morning we had to leave (only spent one night there).
one of those boats is coming to pick us up and take us back to kep.

one of my favorite parts of the island...puppies!
this mama dog kept biting her puppy's head. clearly she was not one of those moms that enjoys breastfeeding.
the dog's owner had to keep moving mama's head back to prevent her from biting the puppies' heads.
oh there she goes again.
look out, puppies!
this one was my favorite. he fell asleep on my lap during dinner, throughout which it rained, so my leaning forward was keeping him relatively dry.
