Hot Air Balloon Ride with Air Ventures

A year after Eileen's birthday, we finally used the gift certificate for a hot air balloon ride from Air Ventures Hot Air Balloon Flights, http://www.air-ventures.com/. The evening we chose turned out to be the Chester County Balloon Festival at the Embreeville Sports Complex in West Bradford (http://www.ccballoonfest.com/). There were 8 balloons that took off in the evening. Our pilot was Blair Beard (see http://www.air-ventures.com/meetpilots.php). After our flight, we helped the crew setup and take down the balloon again to take participate in the Night Glow. It was a most enjoyable evening.

Attending Phillies Game in the Unisys Suite

The Java and ePortal teams had a team-building activity, attending the Phillies game against the Toronto Blue Jays. We were able to procure the Unisys suite, located just up from the end of the third base dugout. The skies cleared long enough for the game to be played in its entirety with zero precipitation!

Deer hunting with Dad in Michigan, Nov 2006

Dan went to Michigan in November to go deer hunting with Don. They spent one night at 'deer camp' near Tawas City, visited with Dan's boss (from Minneapolis) at HIS dad's deer camp in Whitemore, MI and then spent the rest of the week in Manistee, where they hunted from the deer blind Don built this summer

Hiking on the NCR Trail

The weekend before Halloween (10/06), we went camping at Morris Meadows Campground in Freeland, MD. On Saturday, after the weather 'calmed down', we went hiking on the NCR Trail, a 'rails-to-trails' trail that goes from Baltimore, MD to Harrisburg, PA.

A weekend camping trip with Chris

After attending the Unite conference, Dan spent the weekend with Chris, camping at Salt Point State Park north of San Francisco and then visiting a few wineries in the Sonoma Valley on their way back to Palo Alto.

Moving Meg to North Carolina

Megan moved into her one-bedroom house in Warrenton, NC a couple weeks before school started. It has a great room, a bedroom, bathroom and galley kitchen. What a way to start out on your own!

Chris's Graduation

In June, Chris graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in mechanical engineering. A number of family members traveled to SLO for the graduation. Elyse flew in from Germany, much to the surprise of Chris and their mom! Oh the lies that were told to keep it a surprise. In order to find him during the ceremony, Chris fashioned a pink flamingo yard ornament to his mortar board. It worked. After the ceremony, we all gathered at the Palm St house where he'd been living the last semester ... what a pig sty!

Meg's Graduation

On May 13, Megan graduated from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA. Tom and Mary Thomer went with us for the ceremony. While we were in the baccalaureate service, it started to rain. The actual graduation ceremony was supposed to be outside and by the time people walked over to the field it had quit. Most families sat under huge tents but by the time we got there, the seats were taken. But since it had stopped raining, we sat right up front near the graduates.

Germany Trip - Rhein Tour through the Loreley Valley

While in Frankfurt, we took a bus/boat tour of the Rhein River. The bus took us through Mainz and Ruhesheim before dropping us off in Assmanshausen where we had lunch and got on the boat for a 2 hour ride down the Rhein. Germany Trip - Palmengarten in Frankfurt am Main

From 7 Apr 06 to 10 Apr 06, we toured Frankfurt, Germany. On Friday we visited the Palmengarten, a garden not unlike many in the US. They were having an azalea sale that week.
