Guernsey Book Week 2011

Our tour of the primary schools in Guernsey: we delivered 15 talks/workshops in 14 different schools over 5 days, speaking to a total of over 1500 children from KS2! We also gave a public talk and got to hand out copies of Louis - Night Salad to the winners of the KS2 competition "draw the creepiest character". A fantastic week!

Comic Workshop at Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery

A comic workshop for 12-17 at Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. The session lasted three hours and everyone had plenty of time to create characters and develop a story (to be set in a museum of course!). Quite a few finished comics were even produced on the day. Museum attendants Lyn and Jessica also took us all for a guided tour around a few of the excellent galleries, through some secret passages and past suits of armour. Everyone soaked up the atmosphere, gathered fuel their stories and thought a little about taxidermy. It seemed like everyone got inspired and made some notes and lots of sketches. Here are just a few photos and some samples of the great work that was produced.

Bellshill Cultural Centre

We did two workshops at Bellshill Cultural Centre for classes of P6/P7 children. During the sessions, we were very impressed by the variety of styles the children used when creating their own characters, most were really expressive and highly imaginative. Here are just a few examples.

Booxfactor, West Dunbartonshire book festival for schools

We did two workshops for the Booxfactor Festival for schools, organised by West Dunbartonshire council. Our sessions took place on Thursday December 4th 2008, and the local press was here to witness the event. Other authors who participated in this festival were Alan Grant, Gary Erskine, Alan Bisset, Dr Mel Gibson and James Jauncey. A big thanks to Anne Louise Anglim for having us and putting it all together.

Imprint Festival Comic Workshop by metaphrog

The comic workshop we conducted at the Imprint Festival in Kilmarnock on November 12th 2008.
