Independence Day

Pretty much a day of celebrating things like freedom, patriotism, fireworks and not being French. Alex's parents threw an awesome picnic day at his house, and we spent 1.5 hours driving 3 miles to the beach and never touched the sand.

Download Festival

I finally got my first British festival experience. I was expecting to have to kayak my way out of the festival grounds while maneuvering around giant bonfires and riots but luckily we had some nice weather and a Axl Rose FINALLY came back onstage. Thank goodness for production passes, the artist showers, and Livenation/Sanctuary wristbands. Oh yeah, I saw Will Smith and some pretty decent bands too.

Paris: Le deuxième partie

This time around I got to go to Paris with my parents and brother where I learned that my mother can't deal with being in a city for any more than 24 hours. Heaven forbid you see a sex shop, some dog faeces, or a bum on the street! Despite my crazy family, I actually had the time to go inside the Lourve which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Barcelona

I'd like to personally thank the Spanish for their late-night to early-morning party hours, some amazing architecture, and for creating a little chain of bars in Barcelona called Chupitos where everything is lit on fire. Still sorry I didn't "SERIOUSLY hit" Marissa and Meghan in the morning per their notes' request, but we had a great time nonetheless.

Athens and Aegina

After a 4 hour train ride and then 16 hour boat journey we landed in Piraeus and ingested some Uzo, bought for us by a very handsome older Greek gentleman. A little tipsy, we boarded another train for another 4 hour trip to Athens, the oldset historical parts of which, as we discovered, were stolen by the Germans and English. We stayed at a gay hostel, Jess and I got accosted constantly because of our blonde hair (and stunning looks), were offered lots of free food, and got told we were crazy for going swimming in mid-November. Hey, it was 75 degrees!

Rome

The stuff in Rome is kinda old, could be as old as some of the "historic" brownstones on Beacon street in Boston, but I'm not sure. Three other things I learned when in Rome: 1. Maybe my 4 years of high school Latin would've actually come in handy here. 2. How pigeons have sex (thanks Marissa). 3. Watch out for bums "sleeping" on heating grates, you might get yourself into a sticky situation.

Venice

Despite the rain, cold wet feet, horrible food and bird-flu infested pigeons, this has to be one of the most beautiful and unique places in Europe. Sorry Paris, you've lost the title of "Most Romantic City". This album has to be my personal favourite.

Edinburgh and Glasgow

Scotland is very cold and wet. Bring your umbrella and don't take a train there without reserving a seat, we learned that the hard way. Unfortunately, lots of rain and cold is something I don't find very condusive to wanting to take tons of photos. So, I wasn't really able to capture the full beauty of these cities.

On this night the Red Sox were taken out of the series, Matt Rooney flaunted his Yankeeness (and not "Yankee" in the bad British connotation, Yankees as in the most vile team ever), and the ladies and I were bought far too many drinks from far too many sketchy men.
