With a rush, the Carthaginians charge into the Roman legions, with fierce fighting breaking out.

Continued heavy fighting - but the Roman Heavies destroy the Warband. ROME 1 - CARTHAGE 0
The Carthaginian Heavies move forward, along with Auxillia
But the Carthage Heavies crash straight through the Romans, destroying 2 units. ROME 1 - CARTHAGE 2
The Roman Velites move forward
Whilst the Carthaginian right wing continue to press the Romans
...and destroy another unit. ROME 1 - CARTHAGE 3. However, the Roman legionaries counter-attack with deadly force. ROME 2 - CARTHAGE 3.
...and also kill one of the Carthaginian Generals. ROME 3 - CARTHAGE 3
They advance futher, attacking the Cartahge Auxillia from behind
but are unable to gain the advantage.
The Carthaginian line attack again, and the Velites retreat from the Cavalry and Warband
The Romans continue the attack on the Carthage units in their rear...
And this time succeed in destroying them. ROME 4 - CARTHAGE 3
They then attack the African Heavy Infantry
And despite causing some casualties
They then pay a heavy price for their bravado, losing both the unit and their general. ROME 4 - CARTHAGE 5
The Velites try to cut off the Heavy Infantry
but are then attacked...
...and retreat from the advancing hordes of Carthage
Numidian Cavalry move to support the Heavy Infantry
And the Roman Cavalry can hold back no longer, unleashing a devastating charge on their counterparts
The Numidians are crushed by the Roman Medium Cavalry. ROME 5 - CARTHAGE 5
who then crash into the Heavy infantry, seeking victory.
However, despite being outnumbered, the Carthaginian Heavy Infantry hold off the Romans, who are themselves attacked by the Carthage Medium Cavalry
...and finding themselves outmatched, are ridden down by the Victorious riders of Carthage! ROME 5 - CARTHAGE 6. A really close fought battle - unusual in that it was fought out entirely on one flank. The right flank of the Roman army never moved during the entire game.
