Romans vs Gauls. The Romans on the left
The view from the Gallic line - the Roman legions are divided by the trees

The roman centre and left - facing the entire Gallic army
In an effort to correct their poor deployment, the Roman right advance
And the Gallic cavalry and chariots advance on the left
The Roman cavalry attack the Gallic village
And on the left, they attempt to hit the Gallic chariots head on
...and are crushed under their wheels Romans 0 - Gauls 1
The Gallic warband surge forward
And in response, the Roman legions advance, eager to join the fight.
The Gallic cavalry attack the Roman flank
and are forced to fless by the Hastati
...who then make short work of the chariots Romans 1 - Gauls 1
The Velites advance into javelin range
...but are forced to retreat, along with the cavalry, as they themselves come under missile fire
The Roman line moves forward again, and Gallic warband die under a hail of Roman steel
But few losses are caused
And the Gallic line make a bloodthirsty charge into the Romans
The Velites flee before the Gauls with few casulaties, but the legions are hit hard
However, the Roman left advance to meet to Gauls, eager to fight toe-to-toe
The Roman Cavalry suffer a rush of blood to the head, and charge the Gallic left flank
And are heavily defeated, fleeing the battlefield Romans 1 - Gauls 2
Back on the Roman left, a unit Gauls is forced to flee Romans 2 - Gauls 2
But the Warband continue to advance...
and crush a Roman unit - the General runs to his Triari Romans 2 - Gauls 3
And then hit their compatriots in the flank, killing them as well Romans 2 - Gauls 4
The Romans attempt to engulf the Gallic flank
but numbers are against them
and with a howl, more warband rush to the attack and the Hastati don't stand a chance. Romans 2 - Gauls 5
The Warband with the Gallic General once again force the Romans to retreat
And then the Hastati, already under strain, are hit by a fresh Gallic warband and are cut down to the last man whilst attempting to run. Romans 2 - Gauls 6. A crushing win for Pete Manning with his Gauls. The Romans were poorly deployed, but their legions simply couldn't stand against the Gallic Warband, whose follow-up attacks proved decisive
