Medibtikar- TCN Step 1 - Ankara, Turkey

Medibtikar organised local training replications for the Individual techniques for accompanying projects in incubators as part of the Training Coaching Networking, TCN program” in Ankara/Turkey June 2009. Medibtikar- Product Certification

Medibtikar organised working sessions and training on Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) and TSG certification for specific products in the Chamber of Food Industries (CFI), Cairo, Egypt on the 12th May 2009. Medibtikar -Technical Assistance to IRI

There were a large number of participants from the region itself and form other regions. Medibtikar- 3rd Euro-Med Symposium on Innovation

Medibtikar held the 3rd Euro-Mediterranean Symposium on Innovation with the support of the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) on the 22nd of October 2008 in the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Amman, Jordan under the theme of “Empowering the Mediterranean to Innovate”. The conference brought together speakers and representatives from around the MEDA and the European Union countries in order to encourage and stimulate networking and sharing of ideas in terms of innovation. The Conference was inaugurated by H.E Patrick Renauld, head of the European Commission to Jordan Ambassador, in his address at the opening ceremony of the Third Euro-Mediterranean Symposium on Innovation, Mr. Renauld said “the economic crisis the world is currently facing calls for a need to revisit goals and strategies in terms of innovation”

Medibtikar -TCN Replication Training

Medibtikar held the Training Coaching Networking Programme training the 28th - 30th, July 2008 in Cairo, Egypt. The Objectives of the training included: 1. To expose new startups and incubated companies and individuals to the basic skills and latest management trends and innovative solutions for businesses; 2. To assist them in the methodological and innovative thinking and guiding them to sources of information; 3. To enhance their know-how, knowledge through assessing and evaluating their own capacities, identifying and discussing practical cases (success and failure), demonstrating how to approach various daily business situations, problem solving, medium and long- term planning; while continuously indicating where value can be added and where innovation can happen. The training went very satisfactorily. Interaction was very good. Interest during the training was sustained. Impact of the training was realized immediately afterwards through repetitive replication requests

Medibtikar - Workshop on Certificates of Origin

Medibtikar held the “Workshop on Certificates of Origin”, Amman, 16 July 2008 in cooperation with National Fund for Enterprise Support in Jordon. The workshop focused on helping the MEDA countries to obtain “Certificates of Origin” in those traditional products that are recognised as having high quality. During the workshop, the procedures of selection and certification of an assigned product will be covered. The training is scheduled according to the participants; civil servants and local consultants to develop the capacity to file submission applications for obtaining certification of origin. Medibtikar - Training of the Trainers Workshop

Medibtikar held the “Training the Trainers” Workshop in Cairo from the 14th -17th July 2008 ; its main theme focused on training the local consultants on the material developed by Medibtikar programme experts for future replications on behalf of the programme at a national level. Medibtikar, through this workshop, aims at training the local consultants from the MEDA countries on transferring know-how, necessary to deliver trainings based on the methodology and the content developed by Medibtikar international experts. The local consultants then will be able to replicate these trainings at a national level, first on behalf of Medibtikar programme and then through local institutions; this approach will ensure and maintain the sustainability of Medibtikar missions and objectives.

Medibtikar - Strategic Information Seminar

Medibtikar organised a seminar entitled "Management and strategic information sharing within innovative networks” in Tunis, Tunisia on the 2-3 July 2008. The main theme focused on technology and market watch, services and tools. Medibtikar has conducted a series of training benefiting incubator staff and management. This seminar was a technical assistance which falls in the framework of the Training Coaching Networking (TCN) programme. The main objective of this technical assistance was to establish a process of collective economic intelligence in a network of innovative intermediaries and institutions. Participants to this seminar were two different categories of beneficiaries; direct and indirect. Direct beneficiaries were management of technoparks, incubators, innovation networks, cell recovery, clusters, and innovation centers. Medibtikar- replication seminar for Incubators

Medibtikar organised the “local replication seminar for Individual techniques for accompanying projects in incubators - Training Coaching Networking, TCN program” in Nabeul, Tunisia on the 23rd – 25th June 2008. This seminar was organised in corporation with the Tunisian Industry Promotion Agency (API) , the local focal partner has mobilised 34 participants to the seminar according to the desired mix of entrepreneurs with innovative projects, consultants, incubator staff, technology development agents, trainers and financing agents. The Governor of Nabeul, the API and its regional office, the University of Nabeul and the Local Chamber of commerce provided a significant support for the success of the event.

Medibtikar-Train the Trainers Workshop, Istanbul

Medibtikar held the “Training the Trainers” Workshop in Istanbul from the 10-13 June 2008 ; its main theme focused on training the local consultants on the material developed by Medibtikar programme experts for future replications on behalf of the programme at a national level. Medibtikar- Workshop Evidence-Based Innovation Policy

Medibtikar the 4th regional workshop on innovation in statistics, targeting the MEDA countries in Casablanca from the 2nd to 4th June 2008; its main theme focused on the production, usage, transmission of statistics across the MEDA countries. The workshop also covered the best practices and methods for learning, aiming to help the beneficiaries to elaborate their own statistics; and for the first time, a variety of activities, driven by the workshop’s theme – has been organised and / or proposed by the involved participating entities. The members of the NEBIP (Network Evidence-Based Innovation Policies) have contributed at the workshop, working along the statistics bureau, institutes specialised in innovation policies or other public organisations; also local experts attended the workshop to ensure continuity with the upcoming events.

Medibtikar- 2nd Textile Workshop

Medibtikar held the second Textile and Clothing workshop on the 29-30 April 2008 in Kempinski Hotel, Amman, Jordon with the support of the Jordan Upgrading and Modernisation Programme. The key theme is “Creating regional networks primarily aimed at serving industry and its support elements“.This workshop lasted for two days with a focus on the Textile and Clothing sector which is a sector highlighted as a priority by seven countries in the most recent survey of Medibtikar beneficiary countries’ National Focal Points. The workshop participants were drawn from nine different countries from around the MEDA region. The Medibtikar programme, through this workshop, aims at creating three regional networks among Industry Associations, Technical Centres and Design Centres to reflect the industry players across the Euro-Mediterranean countries. Medibtikar- Delegation Trip to Hanover Industrial Fair

Medibtikar organised a business delegation trip to the Hanover Industrial Fair, Germany on the 21st till 25th of April 2008 , The Hanover Industrial Fair is considered as a goldmine of new markets, contacts, customers and networks. It comprises ten flagship tradeshows, making it the perfect marketing and information platform. Medibtikar’s National Focal points delegated 15 participants. They are decision makers in companies who are active in automation, construction, electro mechanics, food packaging and processing, HVAC equipment, industry filters, office equipment, optical biosensors, renewable energy, energy efficiency, security and telecom, who were sponsored by Medibtikar in order to participate in the delegation trip.

Medibtikar- Innovation and TCs' Operations Training

The Medibtikar one day training seminar "Innovation and Technology Centers' Operations Training" took place on February 23, 2008 in Cairo, Egypt. It was organized by Medibtikar addressing all technical staff and directors of all Technology Centers in Egypt. The event was in collaboration with MTI- the technological development division, directed by Dr. Hani Barakat. Representatives of Marble and Granite Technology Center, Cleaner Production Center, Fashion and Design Center, Plastic Technology Center, Furniture Technology Center, Engineering Industries, Food Technology Center, Productivity and Quality Improvement Center (Kaizen), Leather Technology Center and Textiles Technology Center all attended the seminar. The main objectives of the training were to discuss the daily operations of the technology centers and their Key Performance Indicators (KPI), also the attendants on services of TC and incubators. The seminar also introduced the IRC services through TR/TO mechanisms.

Medibtikar- 1st Textile Workshop

Medibtikar organised the 1st workshop for industrialists from the textiles/clothing sector at the Armada Hotel Istanbul on the 6th and 7th February 2008. The workshop was opened by Mr. Yavuz Cabbar, the Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. It was proposed that a regional study be conducted with two main aims: • First, to conduct a mapping of all current and recent support programmes (national and international) in the MEDA countries in the textiles sector to ensure that any technical assistance provided under Medibtikar is not duplicating effort under another initiative. • Secondly, to ascertain areas of common concern in the sector where increased innovation could produce tangible benefits. This should lead to concrete proposals for future actions. The results of this study have been incorporated into a report that was presented at the seminar.

Medibtikar- Training the Trainers STEP1, Maghreb

Under the scope of task 1:" Providing services to incubators and techno parks" Medibtikar organized a regional training seminar in Tunis from the 3rd up to the 5th of February at the Barcelo Hotel, Tunis. The objective of the training was to train local trainers from Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia on the content of the training to incubators and techno parks, part of the TCN Program, and specifically the STEP1, which addresses individual techniques for accompanying project holders. The main aim is to transfer the know how to local experts and eventually identify consultants that satisfy the standards of Medibtikar and who potentially will be delivering activities for Medibtikar. 22 consultants, university teachers and incubator coaches were present.

Medibtikar- 2nd Euro-Mediterranean Symposium

Medibtikar organised the 2nd Annual Conference in Cairo on the 7th and 8th November 2007, The main theme of the Conference was to address how knowledge transfer across the region and between the region and the European Union can stimulate innovation in small companies in the MEDA area. In this context, international partnership appears to be a powerful means to cut the product development timeline, introduce innovations and facilitate adaptation to the new environments created by globalisation. The creation of regional networks facilitated the creation of these partnerships. The Conference also reviewed models of existing initiatives, which support the development of cooperative projects between technical centers, business supporting organisations or government agencies.
