Rose bed, garage wall w/miscanthus & daylilies, vitex
The new trellis (note window coverings/LNT had some I could live with)
This is to the right of trellis. Kitchen & laundry room wall. Pine bed to right.
The pine bed: walking iris & Copper Canyon Daisy
To the right of the pine, looking through the plantings on the north side
The corner bed where the mangled red Bauhinia grows. Most of summer annuals are cleared out. What's there needs cutting back.
Corner bed in front of bauhinia. Cosmos still blooming. Gaillardia, zinnias, Batface Cupheas, Salvia, Mexican Torch Flowers filled it this summer.
Rounding the corner, north side of front. Warty corner bed at bottom!
Another view of north side. Light in these pics is weird, I know. Overexposed from shooting into sun.
Moving right along, or maybe not ...
OK, a few steps to the south and you can see the front of the house. Builder considered this California style, we think.
Coming up to the sidewalk. Hamelia, Turk's Caps, Mexican lobelia, Copper Canyon Daisy, Salvia miniata in this area
The sidewalk with rectangular bed in middle. I'd love to rip this out & put in a curved path. Bare areas due to post-Ike cleanup.
This is the south side of the front. Love the light on that grass in wheelbarrow. Name? Oak here lost lots of small branches/2 big limbs. Cut back a lot to get to debris.
Proceeding along the south side of the front.
There's a path here that leads to a gate. Left side still has debris pile.
Debris and cleared area. Turk's Caps were really thick along front of house. I cut them back so I could decide how to rework that area.
Heading towards the gate.
View from just inside the gate.
Proceeding down the crushed granite bath into the back.
Looking back down the path.
This south bed is under renovation. May be area I'd most like to rip out completely and start over!
Well, it looks a bit better from this viewpoint. Needs planting. Took out huge white duranta from here.
Behind the pond. I ripped out Barbados Cherry from the bed after pond was done. 2 Bear's Breeches waiting for 3rd. This stays fairly shady. Design tips?
The back beds. I'm standing just to the left of the pond.
The back wall of the house and the garage wall.
Back fence bed. Beds go from driveway gate all the way around the fence to front gate.
Looking at the back gate (driveway gate).
Bed in progress under living room window.
My poor pitiful courtyard has gone thru more incarnations than I can count. This is view from front door to the right. Needs to be paved. Desperately.
