Wednesday, 20 September 2006, was our second and final FULL day in Mumbai in the Indian state of Maharashtra. We ventured out from the Bentley Hotel rather early in the morning to see the Gate of India, from which we could take a boat to the island where we could see the Elephanta Caves, a Hindu temple to Shiva (phallic worship, we discovered). We had time for breakfast in a ‘Pure Veg’ restaurant where we learned that everything has dairy in it and vegans cannot easily find suitable food in India, even in a ‘Pure Veg’ restaurant. Upon return from seeing the Elephanta Caves on the island with a tour guide, we enjoyed the Prince of Wales Museum, some shopping, and a vegan meal at an Asian restaurant near our hotel. I shot these 414 digital color pictures and a few video shots with my Kodak EasyShare 3.2 megapixel camera, many on the water while struggling with dying camera batteries.
