Paddling upstream
This bridge is part of the Seneca Creek Aqueduct, along the canal. In the 70s (I think) is when the government decided to preserve just a certain part of the canal and keep water only from from Violette's lock to Georgetown.
Took a side trip off the main part of the river. Would this then be called a creek?
These old walls are likely leftover from an old port off the Potomac where people trading and traveling on the Potomac could stop off and unload.
This was such an old fashioned scene. A group of older women were sitting at a picnic table by the water and right beside them their horses were tied up to wood posts. They were just about to mount the horses and head out as we passed them.
What a luxury!
