From my seat on the Amtrak en route. This was sunrise... and a glorious one it was. (Also? First one I've seen in a while...)
From my seat on the Amtrak en route. The weather was spectacular.
When I first got to town, I went across the street to Strong Tree Coffee. I know - you're shocked. Anyway - saw this inside.
On the advice of some of the nice folks at Strong Tree, I headed to the waterfront to check out this park. It did rock muchly.
Another shot of the park sign. I liked this angle better.
More signage. I love that my phone has a camera with a high enough resolution that I can do things like "take a picture of this sign so I can reference the information later..."
Saw the name on the tug and thought of my brother.
Snapped this to appease my inner Beavis.
Another 'for future reference' shot. This whole park (or series of them) was awesome - and very nearly empty on a beautiful crisp day. Yeah, it was a school day, but still...
I was very taken with this statue. It's hard to see here (bad lighting) but it's a woman holding a sword. Very 'justice' esque.
I was very taken with this statue. A slightly better angle/light.
A view of the Hudson River from the park.
I loved that the post tops reminded me of the sword in the statue's hands.
Another angle on the statue.
And at her feet... (I did say that I was taken with her)
My first gallery stop of the day - the Limner Gallery - 123 Warren St. Hudson, NY 12534
Another piece from inside the Limner.
Da|Ba. I just loved that. I heard my Grandfather's voice when I read it.
This photo really doesn't capture how punchy those colors were.
Thought of my folks. They would love this place - just kinda tucked in (as the name implies) in the middle of the block.
The architecture here is delightful.
Saw on a local map that there's a "Museum of Firefighting" and had to come see it. In front of the place is a home for volunteer firemen.
This place was amazing. Don't worry - I took lots of pictures.
Breathing air.
All I could think about as I looked at that was the Keystone Cops.
I wasn't back 500 feet. I'm a rebel you know.
When they said "ladder company" they meant it.
I don't know what a mutoscope is, but I knew that my Dad needed a photo of one.
This just seemed amusing to me. Good intent. Next to the security camera.
The story behind this bike actually had me bawling right there in the middle of the museum. Yup. Me. Bawling.
...and here it is. You'll need to zoom in, but I'm warning you...
This gorgeous building/plant/whatever appears abandoned. I'm going to assume that the chain link fence means that someone is doing something with it. Otherwise? Criminal.
Didn't go in - just thought the sign was cool and illustrative of the town in general.
And tonight location for the Industrial Jazz Group show! (Looks AWESOME!)
Yeah - I like this place already.
A neighboring house(?)
More kewl architecture.
Second gallery of the day - John Davis Gallery 362 1/2 Warren St. Hudson NY 12534 - As a side note: I think that Kevin Neimi should totally show his work here if they'll have him.
More from the John Davis Gallery.
Just thought folks would like these 'tinkery' works.
Also? LOVED the space. Uber simple - and it so worked.
This artist had an awesome graffiti - ish style.
I could live here.
I'm just sayin...
