When I'm riiiiiiiiiiiiiiding! In my car............. I neeeeeeeed you here with me......not way over in a bucket seat.............. Alana and I.
Yes, we have tons of "hail mary" pictures...
The day started out very dreary and cold. The cold remained but eventually the funk rolled off and it was nice.... but the bleary day didn't stop me from trying to take pictures of my obsession in this region.... Rocks.
Blurry rocks.
Rocks.
Marquette, Iowa
Crossing over into WI
The famouse "Pete's Burger" stand in Prairie DuChien.
We tried to keep warm while waiting.....
Dad.
A barge heading for the locks. We didn't stop so this is the best shot I was able to get.
The place was packed as usual. http://www.sunriseapples.com/
At the orchard store.... Laney scored a free apple from one of the clerks!
Apple Cider Donuts......I asked the lady if she was sick of them and she just sighed heavily. I take that as a yes! They were being purchased as fast as they could make them and set them out.
How do you like them apples!?
Hey! The sun popped out! Here's a vintage firetruck I spied near the orchard.
Sunrise Orchards. http://www.sunriseapples.com/
$35/ride..... I wanted to do this Soooooooo bad. The tour of apple country from the skies in a helicopter. Not as breath-taking as Hawaii or the Grand Canyon by helicopter...but still, it's a helicopter ride!!
Another part of the orchard.
We are freezing our bunnies off.
The helicopter coming back to the landing pad.
Stop for fresh cheese treats....mainly cheddar curds. Squeaky!
The nieces/nephew, hard to get them to sit still and all look....much less smile! Alana, Tyler, Monique and Laney
"Lookit"
"Combine-in the beans"
Alana and Laney with aunt Lisa
Laney was saying "combine!" ....she is just starting to talk so it is cute when she whips out a word like that. Earlier she said, "riiiiiiiiiiiver!"
Brooke tipping the truck over in a cheese-rage.
Geocache found in Prairie DuChien
See the geocache....?
Cracking open the ammo box to sign the log. For the record, Alana and I put better covering on it when I re-hid this than there was when we found it. Geocaching ethics, baby!
Look out in Marquette, very near to the geocache.
The bridge to Wisconsin.
Mom trying to herd Tyler away from the railing. She is a nervous-nelly when it comes to heights.
Carrie, Brooke and I
Proof for my earthcache (thanks, Brett, I just noticed you are the owner!). This lookout is at Pike's Peak State Park, where we stop every time we are in this area. http://www.iowadnr.gov/parks/state_park_list/pikes_peak.html
Beautiful view from the lookout platform at Pike's Peak State Park.
Hey, my hand is so pale from the coldness that it looks like a mannequin.....
Brooke and her family up on the lookout.
Ryan using Laney as a scarf!
Another geocache find that Alana and I hiked after.
The trail leading to the other look out areas. There are effigys along this trail, which are interesting! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effigy_Mounds_National_Monument
Coming back up the trail, we got a good view of how far the look out platform sticks out over the valley!
A geocache we stopped for along the highway, it was hidden with a rock but pretty easy to spot.
See?
Grabbing a quick micro-cache in Strawberry Point....check out how small the cache is!!! (it is in my fingers!)
Teeeeeenie tiny log to sign!
Heading home!
