and so it begins...our journey up north. First stop, a crappy little flea market in Mendo. Full of all the novelties including hippie rocks, a great knife/sword selection, and some tasty little tamales out of the trunk of a Ford. We picked up the beaner's first few books across the street at the thrift shop (benefiting the humane society!!)
Beaner's first trip to the Nor Cal Coast
I decided to celebrate
Does it get any more "Goonies"??
Happy Kid. Linds gets to live out a long time dream of driving through the giant Redwood.
Will we make it??
Oh Yeah!! It's big. We made it!!
Arrival at our first camping spot in the Del Norte Redwoods. One of the best campgrounds ever!!

Beaner on a redwood stump
Nature Girl
We loved our campsite. It was one of the only sites with the creek running right behind it. At night we couldn't tell if it was raining or if it was just the flow of water!!
Banana Slug
Two bugs with one stone. Ha Ha.
Cucumber vine all over the place. Seems pretty invasive.
This fallen Redwood has the bark remaining. Someone has propped it up making a cool little hobbit house.
That stump is big!!
Wild Rhododendron growing all over in the Redwood forest. These were in full bloom, a real treat!!
Linds doing her best Abe Lincoln
Linds' face when we realized a wrong turn and our 1 mile hike became a 6 mile hike...oops!!
Moss growing on the north side of the rock wall.
O.K. so you may not believe it due to this picture, but Linds really IS starting to get big!!
Rhody flower
Crescent City Lighthouse. There was no access due to the high tide, kinda cool.
Wild Foxglove all along the roadsides
'nuff said
Can you find the males?? They weigh up to 1200 pounds!!
Inside the Sea Lion cave, a very neat place.
The Sea Lions seem to love it, they got stoned
Heceta Head Lighthouse, claimed to be the most photographed light house in the world. I can see why!
Nate and P's shop in Portland, Oregon

Jeff Cooper Seattle, Washington (Puget Sound)
A nice hike, with a great view of Puget Sound
In order to reduce water runoff into Puget Sound, Seattle is required to use car washes. Thought this one was kinda funny.
Space Needle
Our only shot of the very cool building where the EMP (Experience Music Project) is held. Linds and I scored big when the attendant (with a great Graham Parsons tattoo) let us in for free. Rock Stars!!
A local brewery
Local Ice Cream, hella good
