While my cousin Tricia and Jackie Kenny were visiting us, we invited the Baileys and the Kuehns over for the 1st Annual Sausage Fest! There were three games and fun times were had by all. Congratulations to Bernerwurst and Britta for winning the Sausage Fest vote.

Goodbye Week

The Berlin Sights

I was lucky enough to spend almost a week with Rob's family in Berlin after my interview and I took LOTS of pictures. We visited an outlook in Potsdamer Platz, the Sony Center, Checkpoint Charlie and Unter den Linden (although my camera battery was dead for those two spots), Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, the Brandenberg Gate, and the Reichstag building. You'll also see shots of the Fernsehnturm and the new Berlin Central Train Station (Hauptbahnhof).

Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp

Konzentrationslager (KZ) Sachsenhausen is a concentration camp north of Bernau (where Rob's family lives). This was my first visit to a KZ, and it was very macabre. Graduation - MA

Whelp, I finally did it. I taught over 200 writing students, graded over 5,000 pages of essays. I read probably as many pages of studies and textbooks about language acquisition and teaching principles. I took 21 hours of night classes ranging in topic from Linguistics in Rhetoric and Composition to Mark Twain to Web Design for Technical Writers. I wrote almost 50 pages of degree papers on "majority" and "minority" and language use on the Internet. And finally, on August 3, 2007, I was awarded with my MA in English with an emphasis in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

January 2007 Ice Storm

In mid-January 2007, an ice storm hit Springfield and the Ozarks that left hundreds of thousands of people without power and heat. Rob and I holed ourselves up in our apartment, but many people less fortunate than us had to seek shelter in hotels or community shelters. The ice storm was devastating and continues to affect the budgets and planning of the area, but it also made for some beautiful pictures.
