Convict portraits by Thomas J. Nevin at the NLA These are the NLA's collection of Tasmanian prisoners' ID photos (82 listed online at April 2009) taken by Thomas [T.J.] Nevin at the Port Arthur and Hobart Gaols, and the Municipal Police Office Town Hall Hobart, 1870s-1884. These cartes arrived at the NLA ca.1982 with Nevin's attrbution, but were not catalogued until May 1995 by staff member Sylvia Carr. In May 2007 Sylvia Carr deleted Nevin's name altogether at the suggestion of the commercially driven interests at the Port Arthur Historic Site anxious to promote their non-photographer Commandant Boyd. After examination of Carr's groundless actions, Nevin's name was reinstated online by her senior staff but the Boyd misattribution has remained.
