The sides are also cool. Eugene has 2 funny stories about this boat - 1. He built it before he ever paddled a kayak. He just likes building things. Once he had it then he learned to paddle. 2. Another urban detail - the design called for 18 feet. He did it at 16 because that was all that would fit in his basement.
Orient Point - Sebago Canoe Club Cruising Committee, August 8-9 2010 Another great weekend of camping, paddling, food & friends courtesy of the Sebago Canoe Club's Cruising Committee masterminds, Tony & Walter (aka "Pinky & The Brain"). Featuring a couple of lighthouses, the first successful raising of the Cruising Committee Canopy (Tony takes the credit - he says "When I stopped trying to help, it finally went up"), blackberry picking & the COOLEST Brooklyn kayak I ever saw. Orient Point was on day 1; Day 2, those of us who were left split into 2 smaller groups & paddled the sheltered marshes of Long Beach Bay & adjacent Little Bay.
A great weekend!
