The town was nearly forgotten, but "found" by a TV team searching for locations suitable for a movie about old Shanghai in 1996. For the APEC conference in 2001 the town was completely renovated, since then it is the jewel of the water towns. Located about 45 min (by car) outside downtown Shanghai, in the Qingpu district, close to the border of Jiangsu province.
