The Castillo de Jagua (by Ferry)
Cienfuegos 2009 Cienfuegos is a medium-sized port city four hours southeast of Havana. It was settled unusually late for Cuba, in the early 19th century, although a fortress (Castillo de Jagua) to protect the bay was started in the mid-18th century. From the city's historic core, Pueblo Nuevo, the Malecón, a seafront avenue, juts a kilometer south to Punta Gorda, a residential-and-hotel district.
