The Dhows of Zanzibar (and the rest of the African East Coast) are an incredible sight. These traditional Arab sailing vessels with one or more lateen sails are primarily used along the coasts of the Arabian Peninsula, India, and East Africa. A larger dhow may have a crew of approximately thirty while smaller dhows have crews typically ranging around twelve.
Dhows of Zanzibar These most incredible sailing boats are found everywhere along the Tanzanian coast. Used mainly for cargo you can only appreciate the inguinity of these massive ships.
