Romanesque Normandy These pictures were taken during my recent fieldwork in West Normandy, part of my current research project Mapping Christianity in West Normandy (AD400-1200). This involved visiting over 140 churches in the cantons of Beaumont-Hague, Octeville, Equeurdreville, Briquebec, Barneville-Carteret, Coutances, Cerisy-la-Salle, St Sauveur Lendelin, St Malo de la Lande and Montmartin-sur-Mer. Overall I took nearly 3000 pics, but I'm assuming that most people have a limited tolerance for Norman churches so I've only put up images of certain or probable 12th century (or earlier) material.
