Early in the morning... we start the walk
Brad's excited
Such a beautiful day for hiking... clear skies, crisp breezes
oooohhhh nature
This was Jenna, every five minutes.
The cliffs of insanity! He'll never catch us now... it's inconceivable!
Mt. Ngauruhoe
way off in the distance... Mt. Taranaki. On the other side of the island. It was such an awesome day that we could see all the way to Taranaki!
Looking back down on the way we came.
I sure hope this sign didn't say anything important. 'Cause I can't read it.
Volcanic action makes for some cool colors.
Another peak we have to climb... with stunning views.
Jenna & Brad mesmerized by it all.
It's like the earth had a fun day and went wild.
We reached the peak!
And looked back at Mt. Ngauruhoe
Then looked forward into the "lake district"
There were Emerald Lakes
Crater Lake
Smelly sulfur emerald lakes
Los tres
The steep and scary walk down from the mini summit (obviously the picture doesn't do it justice. this one woman scooted down the whole thing on her bum...)
We sat and chilled here for a while
so pretty...
Looking out on Lake Taupo (beyond the first lake)
amazing vistas
Green gook in the stream and hot rocks from the geothermal activity around the volcanoes
They just had to touch it
Then we walked through the forest for a while before coming out to the end.
Mt. Ruapehu in the setting sun
Covered in clouds...
Killer sun set! It was amazing!!
