Once upon a time, a little boy was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His parents named him Wayne.
He grew to be strong and handsome. And...ornery!
He graduated high school, then college, but he always wondered: "Is there a princess out there for me?"
Meanwhile, across the state, a little girl was born to the Davis family. Her name was Lea Ann.
Right from the start, she was a gardening whiz.
She also graduated from high school and college. But she was determined NEVER to marry an Oklahoma guy, live on a farm, and have a bunch of kids.
However, her determination was no match for charms like these!
And on April 27, 1985, they became a family.
Lea Ann immediatley settled back for a life of idle luxury...
Overjoyed at the prospect of spending every free moment cheering for Wayne's favorite sports teams.
Meanwhile, Wayne got right to work...
As a provider...
Fearless protector...
But best of all...Tour Guide!
From a honeymoon in Florida...
To London...
To France...
And all over Hawaii. From Maui...
To Oahu and Pearl Harbor...
And a day of sun and leisure on the island of Lanai.
Meanwhile, back in Tulsa, the stork had arrived.
Amanda Kristine McCombs arrived on August 17, 1986 and the world hasn't been the same since.
Two-and-a-half years later, Samuel Ryan joined the family.
The house in Tulsa was getting too small, and they longed for a country home.
...so they loaded up the truck and they moved to Beverly...actually, Claremore.
More specifically, a double-wide trailer in the middle of a cow pasture. But it was theirs---debt free.
With a lot of hard work, prayer, and determination, they had a new home. Temporarily.
And just in time! Amy Susan made her appearance on September 17, 1992.
Their country dreamhome came in stages. First the driveway...
...then the garage---as God provided the funds!
While they waited and saved for the next building phase, the kids kept growing.
Homeschooling was a big part of their lives.
The kids weren't always perfect angels...
...but pretty close!
Right from the start, Mandy was a socialite and...co-parent!
She grew into an athletic soccer player and a graceful figure skater.
Sam didn't always appreciate the co-parenting idea...
...but he was a sweetheart about it.
Susie: Drama princess with an attitude...
...who never met a cat she didn't LOVE.
Three years later..."Daddy, don't put boards on our playing place!
It would be 18 months before any boards arrived.
But first, Sam gets his brother! Micah James. March 26, 1996.
Micah was a laugh a minute! Everybody's pet.
At last the day came---the boards arrived!
And the house went up!
And up...
---and up!
It was a happy day when the trailer moved out!
They weren't sure how He did it, but God had given them the desire of their hearts.
And while He was at it, He threw in another couple of trips to Maui!
Sad times came, losing three parents in less than three years.
God provided a free Carribean cruise to help ease the pain.
The kids started to grow up...
Mandi graduated high school in 2004.
Sam's graduation followed in 2006.
After a near-fatal accident, Susie's talent blossomed in art, music, and photography.
And Micah's earning merit badges as a Boy Scout.
The McCombs Family story is to be continued...
