Documents released by the Scottish Government showing its own lawyers advised the Law Society of Scotland should be allowed to maintain exemption & secrecy from Freedom of Information legislation.

Code of Conduct for Scottish Solicitors

The Code of Conduct for all Scottish Solicitors as issued by the Law Society of Scotland. There is also a rule which basically lets the Law Society of Scotland vary the rules & code of conduct as it so chooses ... making self regulation of the legal profession a bit of a joke. What Scotland needs is an outside independent agency to set a proper code of conduct for Scotland's legal profession, as well as an independent review board for setting fees, which the legal profession themselves have set and got used to for far too long ...

Scottish Parliament Justice 2 Committee Submission LPLA Inquiry 2006

Submission from Peter Cherbi to the Justice 2 Committee of the Scottish Parliament which considered the Legal Profession & Legal Aid Bill, recommending it be passed, as it was in December 2006 and made into law in early 2007 as the Legal Profession & Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 2007, creating a partially independent complaints commission (the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission) to handle service complaints against solicitors in Scotland.

Andrew Penman Stormonth Darling Solicitors Kelso

Law Society of Scotland report into Andrew Penman of Stormonth Darling Solicitors Kelso and how he ruined the estate of my father. The recommendation to prosecute Drew Penman before the Scottish Solicitor Discipline Tribunal was removed after intervention from solicitor James Ness on Penman's behalf. Mr Ness furnished the Complaints Committee with fabricated evidence and ordered them not to prosecute Mr Penman despite the serious frauds, faking up file papers and much more which the Law Society investigator discovered.
