Sabrina, Krissy and Walter at Hualapai Hilltop, before the hike begins.
Just getting started...only 9 miles left.
Oops. I guess I didn't do a good job packing Walter's backpack. The peanut oil leaked. Fortunately, it was at the bottom of the bag. It really only spilled on his shorts and his legs.
Finally, a waterfall. Only 5 and a half hours after we started. It is stunning though!
A guy we saw before we started the hike said we were here at a good time because the water wasn't muddy anymore (it had been over a week since it had rained).
Gorgeous Havasu Falls.
A close up of the top of the waterfall.
Part of a prickly pear forest. This fruit was in bloom everywhere in the canyon.
Our campsite. This is all the stuff we carried down on our backs. We guess that Walt's bag was at least 70 pounds. Sabrina and I may have had 50 pounds combined. Poor Walter.
A little friend we found near our campsite. No little friends were allowed in the tent though.
Mmmm...breakfast. Leftover chili from the night before. We thought food would be safe hanging it in the trees like this.
So we hung all the bags in the trees. The squirrels liked the food we had in the blue pack.
Best picture of Walter...upside down off an awesome rope swing.
Hiking through endless vineyards, although does vineyard specifically have to refer to grapes grown for winemaking? Not sure about that...these are not meant for wine...
Sabrina crossing a stream on the trail.
On the way to the Colorado River.
Did you have any idea Arizona has so much water?
Walter at the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
Walter refilled his camelbak with fresh spring water. Hope he doesn't get any water-borne illness!
Such amazing sights in the canyon.
Can you tell I live in the desert and rarely see enough water?
Walter likes the water too. This was a fun shower/waterfall!
Relaxing after a day hike (only 7 or 8 miles this day).
Dinner: roasted vegetables with Moroccan couscous. Yummy.
The lovely horse that carried our packs back up the hill (only 9 miles for this little guy).
Me and Sabrina's hiking sticks. These poles saved my life getting up out of the canyon!
This looks like a set out of a movie or something. I wonder most about how the trailer got down there. The only way in is by helicopter or 9 mile trail. Hmmm....
Say goodbye to an awesome camping trip!
