1 week, 1 day post crash The bruise is looking better, but I decided to go to the doctor to have this checked out as the swelling hasn't gone down and it's still really tender and sore.

1 week, 2 days post crash The doctor said that the hematoma has become infected, so she put me on antibiotics, and I go back tomorrow to follow-up and make sure the medicine is helping.

1 week, 3 days post crash Been on antibiotics for two days. Went back to the doctor, and she now thinks that the infection is abscessing. So I have an appointment to see a surgeon tomorrow to have it drained.

1 week, 4 days post crash The surgeon said that not only is there no abscess, my leg isn't even infected! It's just one gnarly bruise. The bump is a blood clot under the skin that has started to liquefy, which is normal. It may take months to go away. He said he could drain it to make it go away faster, but that would make me susceptible to infection. So I'm off the antibiotics and just waiting it out. Patrick said "I told you so," which I knew he would.
