Notre Dame - Day 1
After eating dinner (very late) on Ile Saint Louis we took the Metro back to our hotel very near the Eiffel Tower. Here is the end of Day 1.
Day two began by exploring the Rue Cler neighborhood. In particular we loved all of the shops that extended outside to make the street into a market.
Rue Cler - Day 2
This was not on Rue Cler. This was one of the many Restaurants that we passed that served Fruit de Mer. I wanted to have Mussels somewhere but that did not happen.
I also never had Fondue. However, if we had I think this is what we would have wanted. The first two days were sunny and nice but then it was rainy and a bit cold so we weren't quite in the mood for ice cream ... not even fondue.

After Breakfast on Rue Cler, we walked toward the Louvre on our way to Notre Dame. This is on the Esplanade des Invalides.

Our Anniversary dinner was at Auberge du Champ de Mars. Arlo tried Escargot.
The end of day 2.
Most of day three was spend inside the Louvre. Here is the Venus de Milo.
There were a few places within this gallery where people had set up easels and were copying the art. We're not sure why.
The Mona Lisa - Day 3
After a nap at the hotel (the Louvre is HUGE) we went to Montmartre for dinner. Here is Sacre Coeur from the bottom of the hill. Day 3
Montmartre is famous for its cabarets and bohemian lifestyle. Day 3
The hill used to have many, many windmills. Only two remain according to our guidebook and we only saw one. Day 3
Windmill in French is Moulin. Here is the Moulin Rouge. We did not go inside. Day 3
We intended to see Musee d'Orsay and Musee Rodin on Sunday. But we ran out of steam after Musee d'Orsay. The museum houses 20th century art including Art Nouveau and impressionist works. It is in a magnificent old railway station. Day 4
This is one of the many clocks on the old railway station that is the Musee d'Orsay. Day 4
The view through this clock was quite spectacular. Sacre Couer. Day 4
I loved seeing the impressionist paintings but the rooms were too crowded, particularly for impressionist works that require some distance for viewing. So I think my favorite part of the museum was the exhibit on Le Chat Noir. Day 4
I have always seen the old poster advertisement for le Chat Noir but I was never sure what it was.
It turns out it was a shadow puppet theater.
These cut-outs were just amazing
Day 4
Instead of going to the Musee Rodin, we walked to Eglise Saint Sulpice. The church was beautiful, but I liked the fountain best. Day 4
From there, we walked to the Jardin du Luxembourg. Where it started to pour rain on us. Day 4
We did stop (under our umbrellas) and watch families try to bring in their sailboats. This duck helped send a becalmed boat towards the shore. Day 4
We waited out the rain in one of the many sidewalk cafes and then headed into the Latin Quarter. Here is the Sorbonne. Day 4
Musee Cluny. We did not go in, but it is clear from the architecture that this museum houses medieval art. Day 4
Around the corner from Shakespeare and Company (essentially City Lights Bookstore in Paris) was Rue Lagrange and a cute little park. We ended the evening with a night cruise down the Seine, but it was raining and so stayed inside the boat and didn't get any fabulous pictures. Day 4
Day five was mainly a travel day, but we did see the Opera Garnier. Day 5
Grand staircase, Opera Garnier - Day 5
We went inside two Paris department stores. The first, Galeries Lafayette was essentially a U.S. department store in a grand building. It did have an amazing gourmet (french) food section where we nibbled our way through lunch. Day 5
Galeries Lafayette - Day 5
But then in Au Printemps, we saw a different side of Paris shopping. We got in trouble for this photo ... so it is the last. Each floor of the building was split up by designer and each designer had fewer than 15 items of clothing in their section. There were no duplicates. Day 5
