the view of Bratislava from Slavin
Slovakia love, some might call it public, I call it beautiful.. at least till it doesnt cross a line... missing it :P
the WW2 monument of Slavin, 6582 Soviet soldiers who died liberating Bratislava from the nazis are buried here. really nice place - both the monument and the view
the "Garden of Peace" ... the message on these slopes is SO important these days...
the castle of Bratislava above the city - now the seat of President and a museum... Not a very good picture, but it shows how old an new mix here.
these days its the 60th anniversary of what we call "invasion of Soviet armies" into Czechoslovakia. It was armies from 4 "friendly" Soviet countries who came to "save us from contra-revolution" that was "threatening the principles of a Socialistic society"... In fact the politics of CS just became more democratic than Comunistic and this was not acceptable to the Russian establishment. This picture is rather famous, it was part of an exhibition about these events...
