Moses takes a snooze on son's lap, between a beanie baby bear and Pikachu. So tiny, with tiny snores....
Jeffie, our 6-pound Yorkie-Poo, gazes suspiciously at the newest member of our family, Moses the Cat (here smaller than a beanie baby!). Photo taken approximately Nov. 1999.
Moses on our sofa, just a bit bigger than a Ty "teenie beanie." It's his favorite, Koala, which he still has and treats affectionately.
Trying out life as cat model. Moses decided it wasn't for him.
"Dut-da-da-DAH! I am Moses the Cat, here to the rescue! Where's the catnip? I'll take care of it in a jiffy-sniff!"
"Oops, I guess Dad won't like my chewing his shoe. Hotel life is not for me." (Taken after our move across country during our stay at the hotel while looking for a house.)
Moses playing with Hammie the Hamster. "Look! It's a little plastic world with a little fuzzy critter! How'd he get in thar?"
"Verily, verily, I say unto thee..." Moses decides to absorb God's word on a Sunday morning.
"I loves the smell of clean laundry! Oh, what? You were going to fold these?" (Original photo taken circa 2000.)
"Ahhh! Dis is de life." Moses stretching out on our new loveseat at the new house in Iowa.
Son Mark enjoying Moses and Jeffie, our two pets that traveled with us across country to our new home in Iowa. Jeffie, my Yorkie-Poo, died three years later of kidney failure at age 15.
Moses knew before we did that Jeffie was falling ill. He usually found Jeffie napping and slept nearby almost protectively. Notice how he's a big cat--we swear he's part panther.
"What?! The Teenie Beanie started it!"
Lazy days of summer--Moses taking an afternoon snooze on the leather loveseat. (July 2006)
Moses the Cat joined my menagerie on the sofa during a break when I was taping a short piece for YouTube. I came back to the room and found Moses snuggling with Fuzzy, with "Ronnie" looking on in astonishment. Moses simply looked at me as if to say, "What? Like *you* don't play with fuzzy toys...."
Caught Moses again next to Fuzzy the Grumpett Puppet.
Mosie, in a sleepy mood dreaming of Christmas (taken in 2006).
"I can't beleive I ates the whooooole thing...." After Thanksgiving (2006).
Moses loves Christmas. (2007)
Moses enjoying a rare afternoon outside on the back deck while his humans barbecue for July 4th (2008).
Moses enjoying his special cat tower in our sunroom where he watches wild bunnies and busy birds in our backyard.
Moses loves a patch of sun in our living room. You can't tell here, but he's been ill for several weeks now (October 30, 2008).
Moses feeling warm and sleepy. His loose collar indicates how much weight he's lost since June. (October 30, 2008).
Moses, the cuddler (6/14/08). Little did we know how sick he would become soon after this photo was taken.
"Ah! Time for my afternoon nap on the sofa."
Moses loves his cat tower!
Moses getting his nightly IV fluids, starting 11/26/08. Pardon the mess in the background--all the supplements we were using to help him. Little did we know it was his final week.
Moses' last morning on 12/12/08. You can see how ill he looks. He'd dropped from a robust 25 pounds to barely 11, more than half his body weight. He just turned 9 in October.
Moses' last morning, in one of his favorite spots--under the Christmas tree. We took him in for surgery later this day but the doctor found cancer, on his stomach, liver, and spleen. Given that he'd become anorexic and suffered from liver disease and kidney failure, we knew it was time. Moses passed away at 12:30pm on 12/12/08. We miss him terribly! He died way too young. We love you, Moses.
