I love my desktop... as you see it has.... well nothing.. No icons, no taskbar, no pager, no conky, no nothing. Only beautiful wallpaper
If I want to start app, i left click anywhere on desktop, and fvwm menu appears. I can also use shortcut keyboard bindings. I love total control over my desktop that fvwm gives
As terminal emulator I use urxvt in daemon mode. This reduces resource usage (not that I have a small ram). As shell I love mksh because it's 100% sh compatible, and I can write crazy online scripts to be executed right away. mksh has some very cool features. Also I don't use filemanager, I use terminal it's much faster, then pointing and clicking
When ever I want to switch to different app, i can get list of running apps by right clicking on desktop.
This is how Firefox looks on my PC. I've remove Titlebar to add some more space (22px is no joke).
I can switch between any previous/next desktop by clicking 2 additional mouse buttons that I have. This allows me to switch between virtual desktops very fast. If you had, this feature you'd defiantly love it. Here you see FreeBSD forum. Yup, FreeBSD is my favorite OS. I totally love it.
It's easy for me to edit any configuration file of fvwm. I've created script, that created dynamic menu with fvwm config files. Also all *.fvwm2rc files are dynamically loaded. If I add new files, they will be loaded next time I start or restart fvwm. I don't need to add them to any main config file. This is yet another example how flexible fvwm can be.
