I went to France for 2 days during my trip to see my friend Anna from our Tokyo cycling club. We spent the entire two days on bikes and did some major climbing.
The first day we left from her house up into the mountains.
For a little bit we had a nice view of Mont Blonc, the highest mountain in Europe.
A close up. Apparently we were really lucky to see it since it is a bit like Mt. Fuji and likes to hide in the clouds.
Looking down at their town of Grenoble.
The view heading up.
Ichien, Anna's husband, at the first peak.
Looking out over an amazing Gorge.
After the first peak we went down a little bit and had lunch in a tiny little village.
Our second peak that day, 1218 meters!!
Heading home.
The views were absolutly breat taking!
This is the view from their back yard.
They had BBQs both nights I was there and I met lots of their friends and family which was a real treat.
The second day we decided to attempt Alpe D'Huez.
Were were going from the parking lot.
The French alps were spectacular.
I can't believe we made it! This is also the stage finish for the Tour de France.
Us at the top.
We have finished the legendary climb!
Views from the top.
We were both so happy about our acomplishment that we bought matching jerseys as a souvineer of our climb.
There was still remanance of messages to the tour riders the entire ride. The tour didn't come through 2007, but they did 2006.
