Our favorite restaurant, El Garaje, totally served our drinks in Mickey Mouse cups! Kendall looks doubtful...
Marleini takes care of her littlest sister everyday after school. Sometimes she misses school to take care of her. (Her name slipped my mind, whoops)
Rachel and Marleini's baby sis.
Kendall loves to snuggle with sleepy Wilson.
The kids are standing in line for Riley. Memo's turn!
This is precisely why there was a line.
Anne was playing a little hackie sack catch with Yaina. Estiven joined in, and baby sister is over there on the grass hanging out.
Very exciting game. (Oh yea, we were in Chichigua to watch a village soccer game, but of course we played on the sidelines with our peeps).
These kids make their own toys.
This game is very official. Notice the one barbie-pink shin guard on the goalie. Someone else wore the other one.
Oh yea, and a man walking a donkey walked through the middle of the field at some point.
That was my favorite part, obviously.
Memo got some yummy, salty, Chichigua popcorn.
Salon de Roslan.
Prom hair.
Ashley, a hidden Alfredo (?), stylist Roslan, Vanessa, and a wedding-ready Kendall.
Kendall and I took Gustavito to get some juice from our friend at Colmado Luis. He is my amor. (Gustavo, not Luis).
Isaak entertaining everyone (including Jamie Lamb here!)
Sunglasses + cowboy hats = so hot right now
Start: River Day! Carita perched on a rock.
Dieguito played in the sand like a pimp.
Anne with some random kids at river day
Assessing the rock-jumping opportunities
Mama Jennie with Diego.
Robin being a photographer. This is where we set up shop for river day! The men are off to the right cooking up a storm!
Riley sneaked this picture in. This is where we all hung out at the river like a little Makarios family.
Diego and Jennie. The other two kids belong to Chepe from the work site. Like Anne said: “I wish I had worn my beige underwear and white tank top to swim in the river!”
Robin and Anne playing with Diegs (before Robin realized her phone was in her pocket the whole time).
Diego being a big man and eating an apple (he's about to turn one, people). That's Dad, Miguel, over there on the left.
Stud. (Diego, I mean)
Robin is very easily sunburned, so she became “musulman,” as Miguel said.
Today, we ate lunch at Parada del Norte. Yep, we are getting a car wash at the restaurant. Dominicans LOVE multifunctional places.
See?!
I read in the bible that “Isaak” means: he laughs. So fitting.
Isaak listening to an Ipod
Jakob and Isaak have a new, cute neighbor. Jakob had en entire conversation in fake Spanish with her. Granted, he does know some Spanish, so he does say “Si!” and “Mama no alli o alli alli alli....etc.” Much of the other babble is waaay fake. He totally is trying to impress her. I almost died from the humor of it. This lasted for about 20 minutes.
The dreaded gate.
aaaand the door. I couldn't bear to close it for the pictures in case of spontaneous lockage.
in between
There are worse places to be trapped.
