Me and Flat Stanley in the delta on the way to Cape Evans
A view of other people in the delta
Flat Stanley in front of Robert Falcon Scott's Terra Nova Hut. It was built in 1911.
Flat Stanley and I by the sign to the hut.
That's where Scott slept. Complete with reindeer blankets!
This is where some of the other men slept in their bunk beds.
Just a few of things that the explorers left in the hut in case they returned. The bottle on the top right is a Heinz ketchup bottle!
This is Flat Stanley and I next to the hut with Mt. Erebus behind us. It is the southernmost active volcano in the world. If you look really closely, you can see some smoke steaming out of the volcano!
Flat Stanley is standing in a snow bank, but off in the distance you can see the Barne Glacier jutting out.
Flat Stanley made another paper friend! The Royal Society Mountains are in the distance on the left.
Going into the Ice Cave
My friend Mike sliding down into the cave and taking pictures along the way.
Flat Stanley and I in the Ice Cave! Isn't it really blue? The smooth part on the right hand side of the photo is a glacier called the Erebus Glacial Tongue because it looks like a big tongue coming off the side of the volcano. The stuff on the left hand side of the photo is the snow and ice that the glacial tongue pushed which formed the cave.
Flat Stanley and I in the ice cave by the entrance.
Flat Stanley is standing on the tire of the delta. This is what we rode in to get to the Terra Nova Hut and the ice cave.
