I traced a layout of the bracket feet profile on our bedroom set. This is what I'm going to use for the bracket feet on the chest.
This is the blank for the feet, mitred, but with no profiles cut.
I layed the template along the long grain edge to get ready for the bandsaw.
After the first profile is cut, I taped a hunk of MDF inside to ride on the table. The mitre line that was revealed by the first profile cut, was the line followed by the second cut. The result is the bracket foot.
Et voila.
I lined the chest with aromatic cedar. It gave it a great smell, ultimately will make the chest more useable, and made it weigh a friggin ton. The solid wood glueup has cross braces on the lid that have oval holes cut for wood movement.
The drawer front is just a facade. The piece is the same width and thickness of the armoire in the bedroom. The layout, joinery and apron are all matches. I added hardware so the lid didn't slam. One thing to remember, don't use poly on the inside of the lid with aromatic cedar. It will never dry.
A crappy picture of how the feet and apron turned out.
