Caribbean Land Hermit Crab with beautiful shell
Empty shell of a Sponge Crab, left after molting. This is a marine crab, which is very good camouflagued by decorating itself with sponges. I have never seen one while snorkeling. I found this shell on the beach.
Turtle nest that was poached by Coatis or feral dogs. Land hermit crabs obviously smell the broken turtle eggs and feast on the remnants.
We discovered this dug-out turtle nest (with hermit crabs all over it) during the night while on a excursion to observe nesting turtles.
