The mouth of the Rio Chagres
You can barely see it, but Fort San Lorenzo stands on the nearest bluff.
Howler Monkey Butt
A sloth -the slowest animal on the planet!
...
... Time elapsed for head swivel action shot: 10 minutes.
A sloth and a hawk: roomies in the same tree
...It was built to regulate the water flow for the Panama Canal locks.
The Gatun Lake Dam...
“Whatcha lookin' at, tourist?!”
Look closely: mama has a baby about the size of a beer can hanging on to her butt, right above her tail!
Hang on little bubba!
We took the dinghy up some of the smaller tributaries in search of more wildlife.
Another sloth -is fatty preggers?
Workin' it for the camera
Toucan Sam, where are my Froot Loops?
Green Parrots -where's my beer?
The Fer-de-Lance: one of the most poisonous snakes in Panama, here cleverly disguised as a dog turd. Crystal was less than a foot away from it when she noticed the suspicious looking turd. Yikes! (See what happens when I let Travis help with the captions?)
The next day we paddled up even smaller tributaries -crocodile country!
No crocs, but we saw many Jesus Christ Lizards.
CJ of the Jungle
Morning departure on the river
Seasick Kitty, entirely unamused
She hid between the pillows when we started up the engine...
Awwwww
