The Big Show Opening

These are photos from the opening of "The Big Show" at the 3rd Street Gallery in Carnegie, PA on 5/18/07. This show is a juried show for members of the Pittsburgh Society of Artists. Both Jay and Marty had works on display.

Heppenstall

I have taken many dozens of photos of the Heppenstall Steel mill in Pittsburgh's Lower Lawrenceville community. The mill closed in 1979. Most of the photos are from its demolition. Some were taken inside the derelict mill in the fall of 2006 when I, and Martha Ellen Ressler, broke in. I took a number of photos until my batteries ran out. (That experience taught me to never leave home without several extra sets of batteries, even on a Sunday afternoon stroll.) Marty took some photos and made some sketches, resulting in the painting, "Steal Dreams." Included in this collection of photos are several digital reproductions of photos retrieved from the mill by a neighbor who worked in the forge department and was also a paramedic in the mill. I am hoping for to acquire more historic images of the mill. These and other images are being prepared for a gallery showing and may be purchased framed and matted.
