The view from our car on the trip to Warm Springs. This picture doesn't do it justice! It was beautiful!!!
Ha! We love historical markers! Weird, I know...but that's us! :-)
We thought it was interesting that the grounds, museum, etc were all made with handicapped people in mind...they took extra care to make them welcome. (Because FDR was in a wheelchair)
FDR's cane was one of his trademarks. This is just a very small part of his cane collection...people sent them to the White House as gifts.
His car. The real deal!
Stage Coach used in his gubanatorial election celebration
We could not figure this thing out! Anyone have any ideas? It has the Ten Commandments, Hebrew script, a Masonic symbol, and it was electric! Wierd!!
The Unfinished Portrait
Sorry for the blur... this is what the portrait would have looked like finished. (The same artist did this one)
Willys roadster
Servants quarters
The Little White House
The big bush was unavoidable. When using a timer you just get what you take!
Pic of servants quarters and guest house from the front of the big house.
Marine sentry post. Again, sorry for the blur
FDRs bedroom
FDR slept here...and, sadly, he died here.
We thought it strange that they preserved the toilet paper in a plexi box. I guess it's the only presidential TP I've ever seen!
Plain and simple lavatory
No flash photography makes clear pictures hard to get! (Eleanor's room)
The pools where he did polio therapy. New ones are in use now.
They have water from the warm springs for you to feel. It was chilly outside, and the water was stil about 83 degrees!
Towel ringer
Polio patients often sat or laid on these things as the therapist worked with thier legs in the water.
In town.
