On the day before Halloween Inky and I were out in my backyard pretending to be a witch and cat.
"Meow meow" Inky said. "What is that under the leaves?" she said pointing towards the ground.
"I'm not sure Inky, let's look!" I said.
Inky hurried over towards what she saw and picked it up.
"It's a spell!" she said astonished.
"And look at the end, if we make this spell we can make one wish!"
"Wow Inky! This is the neatest thing EVER! We can make this spell!" I said excited.
I ran in the house and asked Mama if we could borrow her cauldron. She said we could.
"Why does your Mama have a cauldron?" Inky asked.
"Because she's always wanted to go to Hogwarts and she is still waiting for her acceptance letter." I explained.
"What's first on the spell Inky? I said excited. "Hmmm... it says we need 'six cups water from a desert spring'. Where are we going to find a desert spring Violet?" Inky asked.
"Do you think hose water would work?" I wondered aloud.
"I guess so..." said Inky.
So we grabbed the hose and filled the cauldron with six cups of water.
"Next on the recipe is 'three clumps root from rare blue tulip'. Do you have any rare blue tulips?"
"No," I said, "plus my Mama would be really mad if we dug up her tulips. But I found this mushroom, would this work?" I asked.
"Sure!" Inky said, excited at how quickly we were coming along on our project.
"Let's give it a quick stir before we move on" I recommended. "What's next Inky?" I asked. "This one will be hard, we need 17 frog eyes" she said.
"Frog eyes, frog eyes, we must have frog eyes somewhere..." I wondered.
"I have an idea! Peppercorn! They look like frog's eyes!" Inky said. I ran and grabbed 17 peppercorns from the pantry and we threw them in.
"The last thing on the spell is a 'handful of dirt'" Inky said throwing in some soil.
"Now it says it is going to turn golden" Inky said, reading the end of the recipe. "This doesn't look very golden" I said.
"Where did we go wrong? We followed the spell perfectly!" I said.
"I don't know, I wonder if it was the wrong kind of mushroom" Inky said. "I still think we should make a wish though" she continued.
So we each thought carefully and agreed that we wished for the most wonderful Halloween costumes in the world to wear this year. (Tomorrow is Halloween and both of us have surprises in store!)
Then I told my sweet little black cat to jump on the back of my broom and we flew away!
The end.
