Hiking alongside the river at Camp Taylor
Ksenya and Valerie lead the pack
Bones!
Ksenya and Marek followed by Tiffany and Andrew
Our group after hiking the first small hill of the day. From here we had a pretty good view of Tamales Bay and the surrounding hills including the San Andreas fault zone.
It's me. Thanks for offering to take my picture Ksenya. =)
Marek and his SLR. I need to get a better camera. =P
There were actually warning signs for "aggressive cows" so in this case I was happy that there was a fence separating us from the cattle. This guy doesn't look so mean.
A white wild iris.
I found these particular rock formations interesting. It was like they were directing you to a portal just beyond what is visible in the foreground or something. Cool.
Lothar takes a quick break sheltered from most of the whipping winds while behind this rock.
Redwoods. Ah, so beautiful and relaxing. I absolutely love this.
A purple Douglas Iris.
Yellow Scotch Broom. A non-native, invasive plant species that according to Valerie has cost millions of dollars in taxpayer dollars to attempt to eradicate. Obviously those efforts have been less than successful. ;)
Another beautiful flower. I have yet to identify it.
Emre and Valerie admire the wildflowers. Emre also gave me a bunch of tips on taking better pictures. We'll try it out.
Bumblebee! =)
After changing the macro setting for close up on my camera. You're right Emre that did work a lot better. =)
I believe this is known as a "Vinca Major." Really pretty. In addition to growing at the junction of Dogtown and Point Reyes Seashore it also grows in my backyard.
Dogtown, USA - I want to live there. ;)
The McCurdy Trailhead at Dogtown, USA.
Walking through the creek. Yay, wet shoes! ;)
Interesting technique.
Valerie looks in total control with her hiking poles and stylish gear. =)
Ksenyacat (note custom headgear) after sloshing through the swamplands. =)
More beautiful flowers. Unfortunately my camera couldn't focus in on the light colored blossoms. So pretty though. =)
And back up a hill.
A banana slug. Hmm, these things are kind of gross looking when they're not bright yellow. Oh well!
Froggy!
So cute. I love nature. =)
Ksenya had to get a picture of Dan eating a stick of Polenta. I'm not exactly sure what it is but Ksenya assured me it is one of the strangest snack foods she could think of.
You can't see them but there are 3 girls behind our row of seats. 2 people on the floor in front of us and then Valerie and Andrew in the front. Awesome. =)
Too bad this was fuzzy but you get the idea. Ksenya had the brilliant idea to pull the shades to minimize the chances of us getting pulled over. Fortunately we did not run into any law enforcement so we were cool. =)
Magdalena, (didn't catch the middle girls name), and Elena
Oh yeah, sexy, sexy Jettas. Marek's is a 4-cylinder 2003, mine a V6 2000. Marek's also has 17" rims (nice) and a more aggressive wind dam. I have a spoiler and oh yeah, 6 cylinders so I'm happy. ;)
Too bad these were fuzzy. You can still see how proud Marek is of his Jetta. We considered posing with each others cars and I was tempted to but I thought my Jetta might get jealous. ;)
Hey baby, nice headlights. ;)
Two very proud Jetta owners. =)
