Here is a sample audiogram. Before my second CI, my hearing in my "good" ear was at the 110-115 decibel level in the mid-frequencies...which means that I could only hear sounds that were roughly as loud as a rock concert, a gun going off, or an airplane.
April '06 audiogram: the right ear was hearing sounds between 100-110 decibels at this time. The left ear (the "X"s) wasn't hearing....I was feeling a vibrating sensation instead. That was referred to as "vibrotactile" and has given me a good bit of trouble :). I scored an 8% in speech comprehension (bottom of the chart)...with no lipreading.
This audiogram was done in April of 2007. It just shows the "good" right ear, which has dropped about 5 decibels in the mid-frequencies, and dropped completely off the charts in the high and low frequencies (the circle with the arrows shows the frequencies where I heard no sound at all).
This audiogram was done at two weeks post-activation. It shows that I hear at 30 decibels most of the way across the board...a normal to mild hearing loss. I scored a 92% in speech comprehension on this date...the first time I've scored that high in, well, ever, probably :)...and NO lipreading :)
