High on a hill....is a whole community of goat herders!!
The goat hut where the goats stay in the first stage of the project.
Goats have been bought with money donated to this project.
Our first kids!! (JM)
The goats are thoroughly checked over and vaccinated before they leave the main goat hut.

There is plenty of food easily available in this area for feeding goats.
Two male goats are kept at the main goat hut site. The women can then bring their female goats back to be impregnated.
Goat herder in training.
Women are selected from the community by the local leaders. Goats have initially been given mainly to widows.
The women are then trained in how to care for the goats. They have a collective responsibility....if a woman neglects her goat and it dies all those in her group will share in paying back the cost to the project, so the women support one another in looking after their goats.
The rain hinders but doesn't stop one of the latest distribution days.
Rather than loaning money to the women, the "loan" of the goat is cleared by the women returning the first female offspring to the project, which is passed to the next recipient and so keeps the programme going.
Goats provide milk for the family and for selling.
The gardens benefit from the addition of manure.
And as the "family" grows they can be sold, creating more income.
