Winter showers over the Canterbury Plains
Inversion over Christchurch and North Canterbury viewed from the Port Hills. Temperature above the inversion where I am taking this photo would have been 30C or so with a Nor'west breeze, dropping down through the inversion on the way down Dyerps Pass Rd it was 20C with a NE breeze.

Snow on Sugarloaf 6:45pm 5 Nov 2008. At 6:40pm the temperature was 4.0C. When the shower cleared, Sugarloaf was coated in a wintry blanket.
While it was very warm in the city, it was not such a good day at the beach. New Brighton shrouded in sea fog viwed from the Port Hills.
